Darren Barker vs Daniel Geale - Gambling on Boxing Goes to New Jersey, The confident Darren Barker will step up a bit in class when he
fights IBF Middleweight Champion Daniel Geale on August 17th, 2013 in
Atlantic City. Darren Barker is the number 3 ranked IBF Middleweight boxer, so he
has climbed the ranks fairly well, but I am not sure if your dollars
gambling on boxing should be fired on him to defeat the Champion, Daniel
Geale
The challenger Barker is coming off 2 wins by stoppage, but when I
look deeper I can see they were not anywhere close to the class of fight
he is coming against here. He had a big shot against Sergio Martinez 3 fights back in October of
2011 that he seemed to be winning, but Martinez came back. The mistakes
by opening himself up in that fight is the exact reason I think Darren
Barker will have big problems in his fight against Geale. The 31 year old Barker is maybe over confident about this fight, or
maybe he is just trying to get in Geale’s head which won’t happen. He
says he is a better boxer than when he fought Martinez and claims to
have “seen enough of Geale to know I will beat him.” The bottom line is that Darren Barker does not have the power to take
Geale out in this fight, and he is wide open for shots from other
boxers. Against a skilled champion like Geale I would expect him to get
pounded the whole fight. Even though I don’t see Geale shooting for a
knockout, I think it has a good chance at happening because of Barker’s
attitude and the lack of improvement by Barker to protect himself from
open shots.
